Corsages jolies
Labels:
corsage,
hair decorations,
hair flowers,
pin-on
My latest experiment yields positive results...these are so fun for corsages, maybe for a Mom or Grandmother, something they can keep as a reminder of your day. I also love them clipped into a hair do or onto a cool vintage jacket, lapel or scarf. These are 100% handmade, midori dupioni silk which, by the way is an environmentally minded company that "helps reduce waste, and employs the community."

Cool Wedding

vintage inspired
I just had to post this article from Brides Philadelphia magazine, it's my brother-in-law and his Gorgeous bride! Though they got married a year ago I feel they embodied the spirit of the new weddings, detail, detail, detail and that does not automatically equate to $$$. They found creative ways to make their day special. Leann's dress is vintage from our own Frances Vintage here in Phoenix, it was cream lace with a butter cream sash and she accessorized with red ballerina flats and a pretty, petite red bouquet of wild flowers. The Groom wore a coordinating red boutonniere and a vintage inspired suit complete with hat. The article talks about their money saving choices, serving hamburgers and hot dogs picnic style, making lavender sachets as gifts. They also had fun touches like a candy bar and colorful backdrops set up for people to have their portraits taken by a professional photographer. I had a great time at this wedding and really appreciated the special touches, especially the miniature wedding cakes made out of rice crispy treats, so cute! They definitely inspired me!

Emma
I think I've been pretty good about not posting a ton of pictures of my little girl on this blog but these were just too cute! She's showing off her favorite "clack-clack" shoes in these pictures and just looking so sweet, my baby is growing up!!!
The new silks...
Labels:
silk bouquets,
silk ribbon bouquets
Usually I'm not a fan of silk anything when it comes to floral, but I just love silk ribbon especially midori silk, this idea was born out of my experiments with head bands and hair notions (love that word!) The beauty of this bouquet is that it lasts forever and will look just as gorgeous for your daughter or granddaughter's wedding as it did for yours. Miss Kym from Ventola Photography captured the look perfectly with her flawless eye. Check out the rest of the new silk offerings at joliejour.etsy.com

Pretty patio gardens
Labels:
container gardening,
easy gardening
I am a BIG fan of container gardens. No weed pulling, just the sweet, sweet reward of super colorful and fragrant flowers. My favorites for a lazy gardener are Geraniums, petunias and lavender. Mostly because they grow almost without any effort here in the desert and they can help you live out that fantasy that you really live in the south of France in a restored 350 year old farmhouse. Add a few rustic touches like jelly jars filled with freshly cut sage and a single peony and you are there.
