New Fleurs...
Labels:
hair flowers,
vintage style

A new very vintage-y piece I made recently is available in the etsy shop.
The heat here in Phoenix really makes you lazy, my husband and I are trying to complete a studio area overhaul in our open floor plan living room, but all we want to do is lie around and do nothing! Oh, how I wish for cooler summers, Phoenix just sucks every last bit of energy from you at this time of year. Aaron did finish the amazing custom built work table- so amazing, but I don't want to post pics until the entire studio area is totally finished. Hopefully we'll get some energy soon, I feel like a limp noodle right now. Ugh!!

Fairy tales...
Labels:
boutonnieres,
hair flowers
Lately Emma and I have been reading a lot of old fairy tale books like this one. We also love Cicely Mary Barker books. Thank you Aunt Kristina for the lovely books! In fact, we have a fun photo shoot coming up with the amazing Sloans of Sloan photography that will be inspired by these books.
This hair flower hat and matching boutoniere make me think "Sun egg" :-)

Triple blush headband
Labels:
hair flowers
This most feminine of headbands has 3 shades and types of dupioni silk hand cut and pressed into the most beautiful flower with a czech glass bead center. It is mounted on a super skinny blush silk covered headband with blush/cream and ivory vintage velvet millinery leaves and french netting accents. I also made a comb in the same color combo, both are in the Mignonne etsy store.
You can also see the whole spring collection at the Inspirador in Chandler on Wednesday evening at their open house.

Vintage inspiration...
Labels:
hair flowers
As always I am inspired by things that are just a little old, faded and of course charming. The colors here are the most sumptious antique golds and faded pinks and sages. One flower is a clip and the other a comb. They will both be available in the etsy store by the end of the night.
I used 100% silk dupioni, hand cut and pressed each petal, one has a czech glass beaded center and the other has vintage "sugar" stamens. They both have vintage french lace found on my trip in February and vintage velvet millinery leaves from Japan.

Corsages jolies
Labels:
corsage,
hair decorations,
hair flowers,
pin-on
My latest experiment yields positive results...these are so fun for corsages, maybe for a Mom or Grandmother, something they can keep as a reminder of your day. I also love them clipped into a hair do or onto a cool vintage jacket, lapel or scarf. These are 100% handmade, midori dupioni silk which, by the way is an environmentally minded company that "helps reduce waste, and employs the community."
YAY!
